Hampton Robotics Team
Calling All Robots and Lego Fans!
Have you ever wanted to build your very own robot? Do you love to build things using Legos? Have you ever wondered about building a better world and where would we begin? Do you enjoy working with computers?
If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then FIRST Lego League is for you! With the help of the Rochester High School FIRST RoboticsTeam, the FEDS, Hampton Elementary will be starting two robotics teams per grade K-5. For K-3, we are starting a FIRST Lego League Jr. (FLL JR.) teams https://firstinmichigan.us/JrFLL/about/ with a maximum of 6 students per team. For grades 4-5, we are also starting 4 FIRST Lego League (FLL) teams https://firstinmichigan.us/FLL/about/ with a maximum of 10 students per team.
We are accepting applications for the teams from now through July 6th. Space is limited so get your application is soon. The cost will be $40 per student which covers supplies, T-Shirts, etc. The RHS FEDS Team will be picking up all of the team entry fees and Kit-of-Parts. They will host our meetings at the high school on Monday nights starting September 9th. FLL JR. Teams (grades K-3) will tentatively meet from 6:00pm to 7:00pm, and FLL Teams (grades 4-5) will tentatively meet from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Meetings will be held in the RHS Upper Cafeteria and in the surrounding classrooms.
As much as possible, we want an even split between boys and girls on each team. Each team will need two adult Parent/Co-Coaches (students of parents who volunteer to become a registered coach will be given preference if open slots are limited). Note: All parents co-coaching will need to complete an iChat form, a Youth Protection Screening, be committed to attending every team meeting, and the Fall Expos/Competitions.
This year’s challenge will be revealed in August. At that time, or shortly after, we will hold a registration night where fees will be collected and teams formed. Please apply ASAP so we can register sufficient teams and reserve each team’s Kit-of-Parts.
Watch the Hampton PTA Website for further updates. Please fill out your application carefully as only correct & complete applications will be considered.
